A Poem for a New Year

We've had a Merry Christmas
In this place I now call home.
I'm grateful for each day I wake
And know I'm not alone.
The people here were strangers
To me when I first came;
And now I call them family
I think they feel the same.
We share our fears and sorrows
And turn them into cheer.
So many things we're thankful for
That we have found right here.
And together we'll find comfort
As we face each setting sun.
And the New Year brings a promise
Of better days to come.
And when a friendly greeting
Puts a smile on someone's face
I know I'm happy to be living
Here at Cypress Place.
